This was a very clever way to have a bit of colourful chinoiserie without having to paint whole walls (quite a challenge with Victorian open stairways). I don’t often have an opportunity to paint trompe l’oeil, so this frame was especially fun! Speaking of fun, the mini mural features an escaped peacock, and a stray hare thrown in for good measure and a sense of humour.
